Job Summary

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate introductory and upper level courses; advising, and mentoring. Other professional requirements include research, service, academic citizenship, and additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair for the History Department. Teach a variety of history courses that may include historiography, African American history, United States history, world history survey, and other history courses as needed. The candidate must also maintain scholarly development and fulfill responsibilities of departmental duties and committee work. The candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching. This position is a 9 month position.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Master's degree in History or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in history, PhD preferred. At least three years of successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
