Job Summary

Talladega College invites applications for the position Division Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Assistant Professor beginning January 2018.


Deans have the responsibility for the implementation of educational policies under their academic areas. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising faculty, recruitment, hiring and evaluation processes within his/her division; providing leadership in developing new academic programs and curriculum improvement; providing leadership in outcomes assessment; recommending students for degrees who have satisfied graduation requirements in their major fields; reviewing and approving department course schedules; assisting the Office of Alumni Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness with tracking graduates; and planning and allocating budget resources. Also expected to facilitate delivery and assessment of all programs in the division to meet teaching excellence and student learning objectives of the college, while establishing and maintaining partnerships. Supervise faculty and staff in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Mathematics.


Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in either teaching discipline noted above. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
