Job Summary

The Ronald E. McNair Program at Talladega College is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It provides opportunities for research or other scholarly activities such as summer internships, tutoring and academic counseling designed to prepare students for doctoral study. It also provides education or counseling services designed to improve financial and economic literacy of students, and exposure to cultural events and academic programs not usually available to disadvantaged students.


The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing correspondence and reports. Must be able to communicate effectively. Experience working with budgets and low-income, first generation students. Must also be proficient in database budget management using database software and spreadsheets. This person must be proficient in technology based technical and computer skills. Must have experience with social media and assist Assistant Director with student tracking. The individual will perform administrative support duties for the program. The Program Assistant will be responsible for providing technology training for McNair participants. Responsible for other duties as assigned or required by the Project Director as related to program objectives.


Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred. Minimum of two years of clerical experience, proficient in computer applications and ability to work with disadvantaged students, faculty and program consultants.

Salary: Negotiable, twelve month position

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
