Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Career Pathways, the Career Coach will work as a team member within a centralized student service model. The Career Coach helps to develop, coordinate and implement specific programs and workshops to address student career development and employment needs. Additionally, the incumbent will implement activities in support of CPI's workshops, including orientation, first year experience and other events related to helping undeclared students decide on an academic major.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides general career advising to individuals or small groups of students, connecting them with career advising tools and resources. Facilitates students' transition through the career development process, job search strategies including resume assistance, interviewing techniques, etc. Participates and assists with career-related panels, providing workshops and presentations related to the above areas and assists the CPI Director with its services and programs.
  2. Participates in regular departmental meetings, campus committees and planning efforts, ongoing staff development activities and training sessions.
  3. Assists academic advisors in presentations and workshops such as First Year Experience, Orientations, and Open Houses.
  4. Serves as a campus resource, representing CPI at College functions, Orientation/Registration, statewide and national conferences and/or regional meetings.
  5. Assists with the training of the Career Alumni Advisors.
  6. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
  7. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Previous experience in Higher Education desired.
