Responsibilities
Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Student Affairs serves as a member of
the senior leadership team and supervises student affairs professionals in residence life, student activities, student athletics, counseling and career planning and placement. Provides leadership and direction for the development and administration of a wide range of academic support programs, including but not limited to, student discipline, personal counseling assistance, student development, and student services and organizations. Major responsibility is to provide training and direction for the counseling services provided to students. The Vice President of Student Affairs serves as liaison with student organizations, and facilitates programs aimed toward the enrichment of residential and student life. Directly responsible for campus discipline, interpretation of student rights, staff training and development, and serves on faculty committees related to student life. Directly responsible for the Talladega College Police department and oversees and directs the direction of the department as related to campus security for students, faculty and staff. Also maintain leadership, strategic planning, and administrative direction for the Police Department. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
Master's degree in counseling, psychology or related field and a minimum of five years
professional experience in a college environment; administrative and/or teaching
experience preferred. Should have experience in educational counseling, strategic
planning, student retention programs, and linkage of academic departments with
academic support functions. A professional license or the eligibility to obtain the license is required.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
