Reporting to the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Resident Center Manager is a 10 month, full-time, professional staff member who will be responsible for all aspects of the residential program at Talladega College. Responsibilities include the training and supervision of Resident Assistants, coordinating programming efforts with an emphasis on faculty involvement in all educational activities; promoting a healthy and positive residence hall government. Responsible for the overall decorum of the residence halls and reporting all necessary repairs to the Facilities Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Mentor, select, supervise, train and complete performance reviews with resident assistants and relief directors.
  2. Manage building occupancy, rosters, and keys.
  3. Facilitate bi-weekly meetings with RA staff.
  4. Facilitate one-on-one meetings with RA staff.
  5. Manage and mediate roommate conflict.
  6. Create an inclusive community.
  7. Serve as a visible and accessible resource in the residence hall community.
  8. Communicate through duty reports, area reports, incident reports and email notifications as needed.
  9. Serve in a designated on-call for approximately 800 students.
  10. Respond to student concerns and inquiries
  11. Respond to emergency and crisis situations
  12. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the residence hall.
  13. Assist with coordination of housing assignments.
  14. Maintain confidential student records and personnel files
  15. Maintain a working relationship with the Business Office, Financial Aid Office, Facilities Department, Student Success and Retention office, and the Admissions office.
  16. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required or related field and previous professional experience in residential life is strongly preferred.  A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a college or university residential life program.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office, planning, budgeting, team building, supervising, advising, presenting, and training.  Proven leadership and experience in working with a diverse student population and experience in all aspects of residential living in a college or university, emergency response and judicial affairs.  Have a willingness to accept professional growth and development training as it relates to residential life.
