Job Summary

The Ronald E. McNair Program at Talladega College is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It provides opportunities for research or other scholarly activities such as summer internships, tutoring and academic counseling designed to prepare students for doctoral study. It also provides education or counseling services designed to improve financial and economic literacy of students, and exposure to cultural events and academic programs not usually available to disadvantaged students. This is a 12-month position Responsibilities: Experience working with budgets and low-income, first generation students. Must also be proficient in maintain a budget database. This person must be highly trained in electronic, technical and computer skills. Must have experience with social media and assist Program Manager with student tracking. This person will perform administrative support duties and assist the Program Manager with all student directed aspects of the project. This person will also provide technology training for McNair participants. Responsible for other duties as assigned or required by the Project Director as related to program objectives.


Bachelor?s degree in biology, business or computer science preferred. Prior clerical experience, proficient in computer applications and ability to work with disadvantaged students, faculty and program consultants. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to prepare correspondence and reports.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
