The Information technology Specialist is responsible for the administrative and academic computing system, electronic mail database and maintaining the College’s web site. The duties will include the following for Administrative and Academic Computing System: managing user’s accounts, designing queries, imports and exports to be used for reports, installing new software releases, performing nightly backups, training users, informing users of new enhancements to the software for the administrative and academic computing system; for electronic Mail : managing user’ s account installing new software updates, training users, performing system backups: Web site: maintaining the College’s current website through the coordination of Public Relations Office, performing system backups. The IT Specialist duties also include researching and developing of new system applications consisting of both hardware and software. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required. A+/ Network + certification a preferred not required. Candidate must have a working knowledge of computer mainframe systems, database administration and web design. The candidate must have a poised and professional image; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Candidate must be able to interact effectively with all visitors, faculty and staff and students while projecting a positive image for the department and college. At least 2-3 years of experience in administrative and academic computing in an educational environment.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
