ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Talladega College Invitation to Bid Interior Rehabilitation of Foster Hall Dormitory Building Sealed proposals will be received for The Interior Rehabilitation of historic Foster Hall Student Dormitory, on the Campus of Talladega College, Talladega Alabama on Tuesday, 17 July 2012 until 2:00 p. m., by Talladega College in the Second floor Conference Room of Sumner Hall Administration Building, 627 Battle Street West, Talladega, Alabama 35160. Bids should be addressed to Dr. Gerald Williams, Vice President of Administration and Finance, Talladega College at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for Tuesday, 10 July, 2012 at 10:00 a. m., in the second floor conference room of Sumner Hall Administration Building, 627 Battle Street West, Talladega College, Talladega, Alabama 35160. Upon conclusion of the pre-bid meeting, interested contractors shall have an opportunity to inspect the Foster Hall Dormitory Building. Interested contractors shall be required to bring their own hard hat, safety glasses and boots in order to tour the dormitory building. A cashier’s check or bid bond payable to Talladega College in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder’s proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. Drawings and specifications shall be available after Wednesday, 20 June 2012 and may be examined at the office of Exford Architects, 234 Goodwin Crest Drive, Suite 300, Birmingham, Alabama 35209 and (appropriate plan rooms; i.e., F. W. Dodge, Builders Exchange, Construction Market Data, etc.). Bid Documents may be obtained from the Architect upon deposit of $200.00 per set, which will be refunded in full on the first two sets issued to each general contract bidder submitting a bonafide bid, upon return of documents in good condition within ten days of bid date. Other sets for general contractors, and sets for subcontractors and dealers, may be obtained with the same deposit, which will be refunded as above, less cost of printing, reproduction, handling, and distribution. General Contractors shall note that Foster Hall Student Dormitory and the Talladega College Campus are on the National Register of Historic Places. All Bidders are to submit with Bid Package, a resume, a properly executed “Contractor’s Qualification Statement” AIA Document A-305 which is to include a current financial statement, 3-5 years experience, competence and performance report and references from at least three prior projects similar in size and scope, along with the name of a contact person on each project listed. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders must be licensed general contractors by the State of Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Architect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered.
