Talladega, Ala. - Talladega College Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Cross is being recognized for his accomplishments. Cross has been nominated for the 2014 Don Meyer Award. Coach Cross is one of 12 finalists from around the country vying for the award.
The honor is presented annually to the top NAIA Men’s Basketball Coach with the most wins. In February of 2010 Meyer announced his retirement from coaching but continues at Northern State in the role of Regents Distinguished Professor and Assistant to the President. In 38 seasons at Hamline, Lipscomb and Northern State, he compiled an astounding 923-324 records. Coach Cross, who has headed up the Talladega College Men’s Basketball team for more than three years, has led the team to win two United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Championships (2009 and 2010) and the Gulf Coast Atlantic Conference Regular Season (GCAC) Championship (2014). Coach Cross is thrilled with nomination.

The winner of the 2014 Meyer award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 4 in Dallas, site of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
