TC PRESIDENT SELECTED FOR BIRMINGHAM’S ULTIMATE 50


Talladega, Alabama—Talladega College President, Dr. Billy C. Hawkins, will be honored as one of fifty outstanding African Americans this December. The Ultimate 50 Black and White Affair’s goal is to honor its recipients’ achievements and extraordinary success in the Greater Birmingham area. The event will host honorees and guests as they mix, network, and celebrate their endeavors together on the “Black Carpet.”

“Dr. Hawkins was selected because of the tremendous impact he has made at Talladega College. He has paved the way for a lot of black professionals,” remarks executive publisher, Nicole Means. The Birmingham Spotlight Magazine seeks to unite the greater Birmingham community and acknowledge key individuals, businesses, and constituents who are making a difference.

The Ultimate 50 Black and White Affair will be held on December 14 at the Wynfrey Hotel at 6:00 p.m. Award-winning actress Julia Pace Mitchell from “The Young and the Restless’ and comedian, Roy Wood, Jr. will be masters of the ceremony. The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
