TALLADEGA COLLEGE MAKES THE FIRST ROUND OF THE HONDA ALL-STAR CHALLENGE

Talladega, Alabama—The national Honda Campus All-Star Challenge has announced the college and university teams that made it through the first phase of qualification. Talladega College successfully made it through the first round of the challenge.

The Talladega College team has been busy this year in preparation for the national competition which will be held in March 2012 in California. Dolores Traylor, Honda All-Star campus advisor states, “Our students are confident. They are shining stars and they’re in it to win it. The team members are eager and we’re looking forward to competing in Los Angeles this March.”

Dr. Sim Pettway, the Director of Student Support Services at Talladega College, also advises the group and states, “I am very excited about this opportunity for our team to compete in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge. We are fortunate to have such a group of bright, intelligent students. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to compete against other HBCU’s around the country in this competition. As encouraged by President Dr. Hawkins, we always encourage the students to ‘strive for excellence at all times.’”

For more than 20 years, Honda has hosted over 75,000 HBCU students in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge. The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge was established in 1989 to highlight the academic talents of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ students. The Talladega College team will devote their time to volunteer work and preparation in January for the semi-final tournament.
