Through the National Science Foundation’s Summer
Research Experience, McNair Scholar William Burks,
IV, a senior biology major, has conducted research
White House Initiative HBCU Competitiveness Scholar at Alabama A & M and Tuskegee University. He
Kalyn Black was honored at the National HBCU Week also attended the 2019 Black Doctoral Networking
Conference in Washington, D.C. in September 2019. Conference in Los Angeles.
Talladega was awarded a $300,000 UNCF Grant to Develop a Liberal Arts Innovation Center aimed at merging
liberal arts with education. Dean of the Division of Education Dr. Rebecca McKay was inspired to apply for
the grant after 14 faculty members earned a nationally-recognized teaching credential co-endorsed by the
Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and the American Council on Education (ACE). The
funding supports the institution’s goal of testing a promising practice of an interactive professional learning
