Dr. Lisa Helaire Taylor has been a transformative force in youth development and higher education for more than three decades. Born in Washington, D.C., and rooted in Texas for most of her life, she embodies both a national perspective and a local commitment. With dual majors in Business and English and a Master’s in English Literature from the University of Houston, she built a foundation that bridges analytical rigor with literary depth.
Her academic journey culminated in a doctoral degree in Educational Technology and Leadership from the University of Phoenix, equipping her to lead at the intersection of innovation and education. Over the years, Dr. Taylor has held pivotal leadership roles—including Vice President of a youth service agency, Assistant Professor of English, Dean of Education, and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Texas. In each capacity, she has advanced institutional excellence while championing access, equity, and student success.
A passionate advocate for harnessing technology to elevate teaching and learning, Dr. Taylor continues to inspire educators and students alike with her vision of education as both a tradition and a frontier. Beyond her professional achievements, she treasures her personal legacy: married to her high school sweetheart for 38 years, she is the proud mother of three adult children and grandmother to three grandchildren.
