James W. Bowden is a seasoned energy executive with more than four decades of experience in electric power system operations, construction, and management. He held multiple senior leadership roles at Duke Energy, including Vice President of Distribution and General Manager of Transmission Field Operations, where he led large-scale teams, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and oversaw critical infrastructure across the Carolinas.
Throughout his career, Bowden has been recognized for his leadership in operational efficiency, safety, and process improvement, including setting industry standards in safety performance. He has also provided consulting services focused on workforce development, leadership coaching, and organizational effectiveness.
Bowden holds associate degrees in Electronic and Industrial Technology from Denmark Technical College and has pursued studies in business management at Benedict College.
