Assistant or Associate Professor of Business

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach 15 credits per semester in business and business-related courses in various modalities including on-ground, hybrid, and online.
  • Assist in coordination of courses within the discipline, including but not limited to maintaining syllabus templates, updating and distributing instructor guides, selection of textbooks and learning materials, updating course policies, revision and distribution of course documents and resources, instructor mentoring, and collaboration with academic leadership and support staff.
  • Maintain and apply current knowledge of the discipline/subject area/field as well as effective educational methodologies and practices by engaging in relevant and ongoing professional development.
  • Monitor and document the academic performance/progress of students to ensure that they successfully achieve the criteria for completing course and program learning outcomes.
  • Participate in curriculum development; engage in the expansion and implementation of assessments for courses, programs and learning outcomes with the goal of increasing student success.
  • Participate in textbook adoption with persistence toward low-cost options for students.
  • Engage in academic and career advisement and staff development programs.
  • Perform peer reviews, assist with academic advising, advising student clubs, and serve as an active committee member in college, departmental, and faculty organizational activities.
  • Confer with students through eight weekly office hours.
  • Maintain currency in subject matter and instructional techniques and engage in development of instructional support strategies and interventions including tutoring, early alert, and peer mentoring.
  • Other duties may include collaboration with peers to evaluate and design culturally responsive pedagogy within equity-minded course materials and assessment strategies that increase student success and support closing equity gaps.
  • Inquiry of data and self-assessment to advance student success strategies and persistence.
  • Active engagement in campus redesign and student success initiatives.
  • Ensure the completion and timely submittal of all required documents, surveys, and data reports for assigned projects.
  • Participate in shared governance through meeting attendance and service on program, department, school, divisional, and college-wide committees.
  • Work collaboratively to advance other program, department, school, divisional, and college-wide initiatives.
  • Adhere to and comply with all policies, procedures, and processes established by the program, department, school, division, and College, meeting deadlines and due dates as established.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in accounting, business, finance, management, or a related discipline.
  • Candidates must demonstrate mastery of both oral and written skills.
  • Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching experience
  • Candidates must demonstrate competence in designing, organizing, and delivering effective and appropriate learning experiences in the classroom
  • Candidates must demonstrate effectiveness using technology to provide instruction, including use of online learning platforms to deliver and manage course materials, possessing the willingness and ability to be trained in new technology as needs arise.
  • Candidate will be expected to maintain active scholarly work as well as help develop and offer academic and co-curricular activities for the continuous growth of business administration programs
  • Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the college mission, possess the desire and ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and responsibly with colleagues, staff, and college students in a diverse setting.
