Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry at Talladega College seeks to hire one Full time, 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor starting in August 2024. The successful candidate must demonstrate a deep commitment to teaching students at the undergraduate level, teaching introductory courses such as organic chemistry as well as other upper-level courses and associated labs. In addition, the department is interested in applicants who have the capacity to be an exemplary advisor and mentor with a commitment to student engagement and learning. Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral. Special consideration will be given to candidates who possess a background in food chemistry, medicinal/plant chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or organic chemistry.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry or a related field
 

Responsibilities:

  • Specific teacher responsibilities commensurate of areas of expertise and qualifications
  • Innovative use of technology and student engagement in the classroom to support the learning styles of a diverse population of students
  • Academic advising as assigned by Chair
  • Active service on college committees and student organizations
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair, Dean, or Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs
 

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Chemistry, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the chemistry teaching discipline and a minimum of three years of teaching experience. Successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Should have documented performance in teaching, scholarship, and service with an ability to work independently and as a team member.
