Talladega College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Data Science within the Department of Mathematics/Computer Science. We are seeking an energetic and dedicated individual with a strong commitment to teaching and research in the field of Data Science. The successful candidate will join a historic academic institution and contribute to our mission of academic excellence, diversity, and community engagement. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Department Chair and is slated to begin in fall 2024.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach undergraduate courses in Data Science, including data analysis, machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and student mentored research, with a focus on addressing real-world challenges and engaging students in research projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues on research initiatives and promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the department.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate students in their academic and research pursuits, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in departmental and college-wide service, including committee work and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- Engage in professional development and remain up-to-date with advancements in thefield of Data Science.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in Data Science, research and a commitment to making a positive impact in the field.
- Effective communication and teaching skills, with a passion for helping students understand and apply data science concepts.
- A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity.
- A commitment to serving the academic community through service and outreach activities.
