Talladega College is seeking a Chair/Assistant Professor for its History Department. This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts and is slated to begin Fall 2024.
Responsibilities
- Administer college policies and procedures
- Advise History majors
- Teach a variety of History courses in traditional, blended, and online formats
- Recruit, interview, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty
- Recruit and retain students
- Assess student learning outcomes
- Develop a schedule of classes to be offered in the department each semester
- Serve on division and college committees
- Supervise senior projects, internships, etc.
- Oversee curriculum development and revisions for the department
- Foster an atmosphere of collegiality
- Meet established deadlines
- Utilize and remain current with the college’s and instructional technologies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- A terminal degree in History or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered.
- Evidence of successful college teaching experience is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of successful teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Background in teaching Philosophy and/or Ethics
