Job Description:
Director of Career Exploration and Professional Development (CEPD). The Director will oversee the development and implementation of career readiness initiatives to prepare students for internships, professional opportunities, and post-graduation success. This position requires close collaboration with employers, faculty, and internal stakeholders to increase retention and graduation rates, aligning programs with institutional and grant goals. The Director will report to the Associate Vice President of Student Success and/or Vice President of Student Life & Success and work closely with the UNCF Transformation Office to achieve measurable outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in empowering students to achieve professional success while supporting institutional objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage career success initiatives aligned with UNCF business cases, including career services, internships, professional development, and workshops to prepare students for current and future opportunities.
- Develop specialized programs aimed at improving student retention and increasing the six-year graduation rate by equipping students with essential skills for career success.
- Promote CEPD programs through collaboration with faculty and staff, integrating career services into classroom settings to enhance student engagement.
- Lead planning and development efforts for Career Success programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and providing support to faculty career projects.
- Create and execute marketing, recruitment, and retention strategies tailored to Career Success initiatives, supporting students in achieving their educational and career objectives.
- Research job market trends and internship opportunities, providing professional development resources such as resume writing and interview workshops.
- Conduct and interpret assessments to understand student needs, provide career counseling, and facilitate connections with internships and job opportunities through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organize and manage events such as career fairs, employer visits, workshops, and industry tours to enhance student exposure to professional opportunities.
- Collect and analyze data related to program outcomes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and institutional objectives, while safeguarding confidential information.
- Manage administrative tasks, including submitting departmental documents, tracking budgets, and preparing reports in line with institutional policies.
- Collaborate closely with the UNCF Transformation Office to meet program objectives, track metrics, and ensure compliance with grant deliverables.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in career services, student success, or related fields.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of current job market trends and internship opportunities.
- Ability to manage and interpret data, track metrics, and write reports.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with grant-funded programs and institutional compliance.
- Proficiency in designing professional development resources and career readiness workshops.
- Ability to establish and nurture stakeholder and employer relationships for long-term sustainability.
