Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant/Health Advancement Specialist plays a pivotal role in providing high-quality healthcare services and promoting health advancement initiatives within the organization. This multifaceted position combines clinical responsibilities with health education and promotion activities to support the well-being of patients and the community.
Job Duties:
- Clinical Support:
- Assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care by preparing examination rooms, obtaining vital signs, and documenting patient history.
- Perform basic medical care such as administering injections and wound care under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records, including patient information, test results, and treatment plans.

- Health Promotion and Education:
- Develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of patients and the community.
- Conduct health screenings, assessments, and risk evaluations to identify areas for health improvement and disease prevention.
- Deliver health education sessions on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, chronic disease management, and preventive healthcare measures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations to coordinate health promotion events, workshops, and outreach activities.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments, maintain medical records, and assist with billing and insurance-related tasks as needed.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.
- Support administrative staff with clerical duties such as answering phones, greeting patients, and processing paperwork.
- Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical processes, patient outcomes, and overall service delivery.
- Stay abreast of current healthcare guidelines, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting for performance metrics, patient satisfaction surveys, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- CPR Certification is required
- A bachelor's degree in a science related field or higher education is necessary for this position.
- Must have minimum one year experience in healthcare setting, preferably in a clinic setting.
- Must have knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures;knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Must be able to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instruction;communicate clearly and maintain quality control standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and community members.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in basic clinical procedures and medical equipment operation.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to promoting health equity, cultural competence, and patient-centered care.
- Familiarity with medical office software.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
