Online Quality Assurance Manager

Summary

Talladega College is seeking an Online Quality Assurance Manager to provide highly skilled professional service to meet the instructional design needs of faculty who teach online or blended courses. The Manager will provide service in the areas of quality assurance, documentation and resource creation, project support and maintenance, and online course design. This position will report to the Associate Provost.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design courses, learning activities, or assignments in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Ensure online courses meet the guidelines set forth by the Council for Regional Accrediting Commissions and SACSCOC standards.
  • Coordinate, support, and provide training for faculty in an online or blended course template design consistent with best practice
  • Periodically review every online and blended course for learning design, alignment to best practices, alignment of assessment within the course, use of the appropriate template, usability for students, accessibility.
  • Oversee and maintain records regarding the use of copyrighted materials in online and blended courses.
  • Collaboratively shape online and blended course teaching and learning guidelines.
  • Research and support the continuous quality improvement of online and blended courses.
  • Monitor course performance, learner engagement, and utilize data to facilitate identifying in-course interventions and/or community building opportunities.
  • Develop instructor manuals, rubrics, tutorials, and teaching tools for online and blended courses.
  • Develop a training schedule for Fall, Spring, Summer.
  • Implement training for new and continuing instructors (full-time and adjunct) on instructional technology and pedagogy support when teaching online or a blended course.
  • Work with Information Technology Department to assist in training and support of students and faculty regarding instructional technology.
  • Provide Canvas support for instructors and students and troubleshoot Canvas issues for instructors and students.
  • Attend professional conferences, research new trends, and report back to relevant audiences on ways to enhance online and/or blended course delivery.
  • Serve on committees related to online and blended instructional design.
  • Ensure faculty and verified students are enrolled in learning management system for appropriate course.
  • Prepare a variety of reports related to operational activities, including statistical analysis.
  • Work with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
  • Utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities.
  • Communicate effectively through oral and written mediums.
  • Attain and maintain Quality Matters certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

  • A B.S., M.S., or higher degree in instructional design, education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and/or training in instructional design, assessment, educational theories, including instructional systems design, and adult learning theory
  • Successful college teaching experience using and incorporating technology in and out of the classroom to engage students
  • Experience providing professional development in group and individualized sessions
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse collegiate community and to cultivate an inclusive environment for students
  • Knowledge of best practices as it relates to online and blended course development standards and procedures and a commitment to learning cutting-edge technologies to support faculty and students
  • Demonstrated skill in using web and social media based technologies for education such as but not limited to Canvas, video, GoogleDocs, webinar software, and Blackboard, Moodle, WebCT, Desire2Learn, and Web 2.0 tools to support blended and online learning
  • Commitment to excellence, integrity, flexibility, dependability, and a respectful and collaborative disposition
  • Superior critical thinking, ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines, able to problem-solve, and has research skills
  • Excellent organizational, management, interpersonal, and communication skills
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education instructional design support
  • Doctoral degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and test development
  • Ability to teach using different modalities
