Dr. Angela Walker

Dean

Dr. Angela Walker is dean for the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts, an English professor, and Title III Activity Director. She served as Interim Dean from August 2021-June 2022. Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to the English, Spanish, Fine Arts, History, Mass Media, and Music Departments ($1M budgets total) based on established educational policies. She also serves as a backup academic advisor for 165 students across-the-curriculum. Dr. Walker has served in numerous capacities at the College, including serving as assistant to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and as Faculty Development Coordinator.

Dr. Walker’s most recent awards include being named a 2023 UNCF Teaching + Learning Center Faculty Fellow Participant. She also held the 2019-2020 Diversity Fellowship, Council on Independent Colleges and American Academic Leadership Institute. Her 2019 memoir, “There is Lyfe After Death: Moving Forward After A Miscarriage,” was a Women’s Health Category Finalist in the Best Book Award Contest. The book was also included on the New England Book Festival Honorable Mention list.

Dr. Walker earned a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, a Master of Arts in Integrated Studies, a Masters of Public Affairs, and a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising from Jacksonville State University. As an undergraduate she attended Jacksonville State University on a volleyball scholarship.
