Ms. Dottie Rimpsey is an Assistant Professor of Mass Media Studies. Professor Rimpsey has taught in the department of Mass Media Studies since 2017. She teaches Broadcast Writing, Media Law, Theory, and Senior Project and directs the department’s internship program. Previously she was an adjunct professor at Jacksonville State University.
In addition to her work in the classroom and online, Professor Rimpsey provides students with experiential learning by utilizing her local tv talk show at WEAC-TV24 Oxford Alabama as a platform for “hands on” and observational experiences.
Professor Rimpsey began her career as an intern at TV40 News in Anniston and later worked as a producer at WFSB Channel 3 in Hartford, CT. Over the years, she has worked for several non-profit organizations and in 2006 earned a National Presidential Service Award for her service with Hands on Atlanta in the Hurricane Katrina Resettlement Program. Professor Rimpsey has also served as program manager for two Anniston nonprofit organizations, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Concern for Children. She has received numerous honors and recognitions including being recognized as a Woman of Excellence by the New Alabama Voters League, the Mistress of Ceremony for Anniston’s inaugural Freedom Rider’s ceremony and named recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Anniston/Calhoun County Rotary Club.
