Ms. Erica Shannon is an Assistant Professor of History at Talladega College. She also serves as an Academic Advisor for the School of Humanities and Fine Arts and as a Junior Class Advisor for the Student Government Association.
Professor Shannon teaches African American History, History of the Civil Rights Movement, United States History, World History, and Ancient Civilizations. She is a 2014 graduate of the Alpha Lyrae Vega of Them All. After graduating from Talladega, she worked in the early childcare industry for several years. Initially, she served as a Pre-K instructor for four years until she became the Assistant Director of Education for Primrose School of Meadowbrook, a private school in Birmingham, Alabama.
Ultimately, Professor Shannon left her post in early education and moved back to her original love for history and her alma mater, becoming an Assistant Professor of History. She holds a bachelor's degree in history from Talladega and two master's degrees, one in early childhood education and the other in history education, both from Grand Canyon University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in history at Liberty University, slated for completion in 2026. She is a member of the Organization of American Historians.
