Adria Nobles Kimbrough ’97 to Serve as Keynote Speaker for Talladega College Founders’ Day Convocation

October 3, 2024

Talladega College is thrilled to announce that Adria Nobles Kimbrough, Director of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s (LDF) Marshall-Motley Scholars Program, will serve as the keynote speaker for the Founders’ Day Convocation. The event will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the historic Deforest Chapel. This convocation is a highlight of the College’s 157th Founders’ Week and 2024 Homecoming celebration.

Kimbrough leads the strategic development of the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program, a $40 million initiative designed to cultivate a new generation of civil rights attorneys dedicated to advocating for Black communities in the South. The program honors civil rights icons Thurgood Marshall and Constance Baker Motley.

With a distinguished career as a litigator and higher education administrator, Kimbrough previously served at Dillard University as Pre-Law Advisor and Director of the LEAD Program. Under her leadership, Dillard earned the 2018 American Bar Association Diversity Leadership Award and secured nearly $500,000 for its Mock Trial Team and LEAD Program. The program has been instrumental in improving law school admission rates and LSAT scores for students from historically Black universities in New Orleans.

Kimbrough’s extensive experience includes roles as Assistant Dean of Students at Cornell University, University Attorney at Albany State University, and Associate General Counsel for the University of Arkansas System. She is admitted to the Bar Associations of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Louisiana.

A proud alumna of Talladega College, Kimbrough graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997 before earning her Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. She is married to Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, and they have two children, Lydia Nicole and Benjamin Barack.

Talladega College invites the community to join in celebrating this special occasion as part of its ongoing commitment to honoring its rich heritage and fostering academic excellence. The event will be live-streamed on the College’s official YouTube and Facebook accounts.
