Legacy is so important to all of us at Talladega. We have two stories this year of the tremendous Talladega legacy passed between mothers and daughters.
Taryn Edwards (Class of 2000 and 2023) received her MBA on Saturday May 6. Her mother Fenece Oliver was a member of the Gold Class (Class of 1973) who also received her MBA on Saturday! Congratulations to both Ms. Edwards and Ms. Oliver—you represent the very best of Talladega College!
Another legacy story from Commencement 2023 is that of family of Yvonne McElderry (Class of 1973). Ms. McElderry received her Golden Diploma May 6 while granddaughter Taylor Hammonds graduated with her B.A. Magna Cum Laude in Child Development and Instruction. Taylor’s mother and Ms. McElderry’s daughter Erica Estell-Hammonds (Class of 1993) was there, capturing photos of her mother and her daughter. She said “Proud is definitely an understatement if I even attempt to explain how I feel.” Congratulations to the entire McElderry and Hammonds family.
