Dr. Linda J. M. Holloway

Award-Winning Children’s Book Author to Speak at Museum

The Harvey Museum of Art’s monthly lunch lecture series kicks off on Thursday, September 14, at noon with Dr. Linda J.M. Holloway, story activist, author, counselor, and professor.

Dr. Holloway’s Little Miss Linda series of children’s books have won multiple awards. Her “Black Hair: Getting to the Roots” presentation at the Museum draws upon the story in her award-winning children’s book I Love My Happy Hair. The book promotes positive hair esteem and self-love and encourages all children to accept the beautiful texture of their hair and dispel hair bullying. The book has won several awards, including the Distinguished Authors Guild-DAG, PenCraft Book Award, and the Purple Dragonfly Book Award Honorable Mention. In 2021, the book was awarded the New York City Big Book Award Distinguished Favorite.

About Dr. Linda J. M. Holloway

Dr. Linda J. M. Holloway is a story activist, author, counselor, and professor. She has been in higher education for over 27 years and has published numerous articles in her field. Holloway is a faithful servant leader who lives by the motto, “Always willing to serve.” She retired as Colonel after more than 27 years in the United States Army Reserves, where she completed four combat tours.

Holloway is a native of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, where she learned many pearls of life growing up on a farm with her parents, Eugene and Willie Lue B. Holloway, and her six sisters and two brothers.

Holloway effectively advocates for women to discover, embrace, and live out their ordained destiny in life. She does this through her platform titled “Women Without Limitations,” where she instills her philosophy on life “Dream Your Own Dreams.”

This presentation will be streamed live on the Talladega College Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Brown Bag Lunch Lectures are held each month on a Thursday from noon until 1 PM in the Museum Lecture Hall. Admission is free. RSVP to srobertson@talladega.edu. Bring your lunch; water and cookies are provided gratis. Door prizes will be awarded.
