The Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art will kick off the new year with a lecture on fine art collecting, “Giving Hoarding a Good Name: A Lawyer Makes the Case,” as part of its Brown Bag Lunch and Lecture Series.
The event, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, at noon in the Museum Lecture Hall, will feature art collector and lawyer Cleophus Thomas, Jr.
Thomas, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Alabama and Oxford University, will share his insights on fine art collecting. With a background in law and a passion for the arts, Thomas brings a unique perspective to the world of art collecting.
The Brown Bag Lunch Lecture series is a free and ongoing series of informative lectures focusing on topics related to the fine arts and humanities. The series is held on the first Thursday of the month, three times each semester.
Thomas' impressive background includes serving as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge J. Foy Guin and holding board memberships with several esteemed organizations, including The Birmingham Museum of Art and the Ogden Museum in New Orleans
The Brown Bag Lunch and Lecture Series is generously supported by the Daniel Foundation and Talladega College. Admission is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch, while complimentary water and cookies will be provided.
The event promises to be an engaging and enriching experience, with exciting door prizes and the opportunity to explore the Museum galleries.
