Troy Brown, a senior majoring in Sociology at Talladega College, has been awarded a full scholarship and stipend to the University of Southern California (USC).

Although he is eagerly preparing for graduation, Brown said he is also excited about his new journey because it will allow him to enhance his educational attainments further. "I never imagined that I would be attending USC," he added. "Having a master's degree will increase my earning potential and enable me to become more marketable in the career world!"

According to Brown, he spent months researching various institutions, and after carefully narrowing down his choices, he applied to USC. "The mission of USC's Rossier School of Education directly aligns with my overall career goal of becoming a teacher," he said.

He accredits Talladega College for his steadfast desire to advance his education.

"Initially, my primary goal for enrolling at Talladega College was to march in the Great Tornado Band, but after further exploring other offerings provided by the College, I fell in love with the campus, faculty, and staff," said Brown. "My immersion in leadership roles throughout campus-based organizations helped me develop into the man I am today."

During his academic tenure at Talladega College, Brown said he was greatly inspired by his professors, mentors, advisors, and girlfriend, Ms. Reanna Burroughs.

"I encourage my peers to strive for excellence," said Brown. "Life can be a bit challenging, but you must remain focused and determined to achieve any goal that you set for yourself."
