Che’Isha Johnson invited to present research in Hawaii

September 30, 2021

Che’Isha Johnson, a junior majoring in Biology in the Ronald E. McNair Program, has been invited to present her research findings during the 2022 Ocean Sciences conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Last summer, Johnson participated in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or more undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he or she works closely with the faculty and other researchers.

The program was conducted at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in Dauphin Island, Alabama. Johnson’s team investigated the direct effects of isotope values during the decomposition of stranded dolphins and manatees. Biology faculty member, Dr. Andrew Coleman is Talladega College’s liaison for the Sea Lab.

Johnson is set to also present her research findings during the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in November.
