September 27, 2023

Eric Wesley, a strategic Human Resources professional with more than 18 years of experience, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural Division of Business Administration Dean’s Speaker Series on Friday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m., in the Swayne Hall auditorium.  The event will begin with a TED Talk-esque presentation and conclude with a fireside chat.

Wesley has experience across several large global and multinational companies in a variety of industries, including distribution and manufacturing, technology, and media and entertainment.

A graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, Wesley’s human resources career began in 2005 through a corporate Human Resource Leadership Development Program with Cintas Corporation. He has since progressively grown in both instructional and hands-on expertise in human resources management and transformation.

According to Dr. Adrian Mayse, dean of the Division of Business Administration, it is extremely important for students to understand the importance and impact of their perspective in the workplace.

“Mr. Wesley’s experiences highlight how diversity contributes to a successful workplace experience and its successes. The speaker will explore how individuals may navigate the workplace and achieve both personal and professional goals,” Mayse said.  “Mr. Wesley will leverage his experience across various companies to give an HR perspective on the current workforce. Companies should be inclusive and empowering because it fosters innovation, creativity, and employee engagement and satisfaction.”

The concept of building a diverse workforce extends far beyond a company’s ability to just attract and hire talent,” Wesley said.  “A diverse workforce must also be inclusive; one that empowers people with a broad range of life experiences to bring their perspectives and best selves to work.”

Wesley added that this relationship is established through community, inspiring experiences, and an exploration of different ideas working to achieve common goals.

Wesley has held senior human resource leadership roles at General Electric (GE) Company and Amazon, and he is currently an executive in people and culture at SiriusXM + Pandora.  Wesley has a depth of experience in workforce planning, organizational design, and change management.

Wesley credits his success within corporate America to his ability to dive deep in business roadmaps that build organizational capability via human resources solutions.
