Talladega College has welcomed Dr. Ike Ugboaja as executive director of workforce and adult learning. In the role, Ugboaja will focus on expanding workforce development and adult learning opportunities, strengthening partnerships with business and industry, and developing programs that meet the needs of employers and today’s workforce. This work will include Talladega’s Workforce and Adult Learning Pathways: the FastTrack Accelerated Program and Prison Education Program.
Ugboaja brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education and business, with a background in workforce engagement, student success, academic leadership, and program development.
“Dr. Ugboaja’s appointment is a significant step for Talladega College,” said Dr. A. Clifton Myles, provost and executive vice president. “One of our strategic initiatives is to strengthen our academic excellence through workforce-aligned partnerships. Throughout his career, Dr. Ugboaja has remained committed to student success and to using education as a pathway to opportunity and stronger communities, so we’re excited about what the near future holds for our students.”
Ugboaja expressed excitement about joining Talladega and the work happening at the college. “For me, it really comes down to our students; understanding where they want to go and helping create opportunities to get them there. By working closely with employers and the community, we can give our students the experience, skills, and connections they need to take that next step with confidence.”
Prior to joining Talladega, Ugboaja served as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Clinton College in South Carolina. In that role, he helped guide the college’s academic direction, workforce initiatives, and overall growth. During Ugboaja's tenure, Clinton secured $3 million in workforce development funding and launched its first fully online MBA program. He also built strong relationships with business, healthcare, education, and community partners to keep the college’s work connected to the needs of students, employers, and the broader community.
Holding a Doctor of Business Administration, Ugboaja is guided by the philosophy that education should provide practical pathways to career advancement, economic mobility, and lifelong learning.
