Georgia-Pacific (GP), a leading provider of paper products, pulp, packaging, building products, and related chemicals, has made a generous $15,000 end-of-year gift to Talladega College. The donation will provide valuable support for the college's initiatives and programs.

The impactful contribution from Georgia-Pacific affirms the company's commitment to invest in the communities where it operates and support educational opportunities for students. The gift will help Talladega College continue its mission of providing a transformative education that empowers students to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Dr. Gregory J. Vincent, President of Talladega College, expressed his gratitude for Georgia-Pacific's generous support, stating, "We are deeply appreciative of Georgia-Pacific's commitment to education and their investment in the future of our students. This significant contribution will enable us to enhance our academic offerings, provide essential resources, and further our efforts to empower students to achieve their full potential."

Ms. Kendal Sides, GP Talladega plant manager and human resources business partner, remarked, "Georgia-Pacific has a strong commitment to serving the communities we operate in, and Talladega College is a vital part of the greater Talladega community. Education is one of the core values of our social stewardship and Talladega College is a fantastic resource for the community where our employees live and work."

The GP Talladega plant is the first of three new lumber production facilities Georgia‐Pacific opened in the Southeast in late 2019.

GP makes up more than 50% of the workforce in Talladega and now has a running total of over 2,300 employees, representing an additional 8,600 indirect jobs. The relatively new lumber mill employs more than 120 full‐time employees with 29 different specialty jobs. Georgia-Pacific, Talladega County, the City of Talladega, and the State of Alabama have a strong partnership. The construction of the new facility has an estimated impact of $26 million on The City of Talladega.

“GP and Koch Industries see immense value in helping individuals develop and grow their careers and skill sets,” Sides added. “We are pleased to continue our support of Talladega College with this donation and look forward to partnering with them in the future.”
