Talladega College welcomes Mr. Alfred L. Norris as the new vice president of administration and finance.
Norris brings an abundance of knowledge to the institution by having over 30 years of experience in banking, corporate finance, and higher education financial management. He also has experience in higher education leadership and strategic planning. Along with a list of other notable merits, Mr. Norris is proficient in assessing, developing, and implementing policies related to institutional procedures.
In a collaborative effort with the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Norris completed a campus facilities project estimated at $45 million and served as a member of the executive team that achieved ITC's accreditation reaffirmation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). He also led ITC to consecutive operating surpluses after four previous fiscal years of operating deficits. Norris most recently served as the treasurer for Texas Southern University in Houston.
"I am pleased that Mr. Norris has accepted the position of vice president of administration and finance," said Dr. Lisa Long, acting president of Talladega College. "He was selected for this position out of an outstanding pool of candidates and I am highly confident in his ability to contribute immensely to the continued success of our institution."
Norris holds a bachelor of arts degree in Urban Studies and Economics from Dillard University, and a master of business administration degree from Clark Atlanta University.
