Talladega College has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Women’s Foundation of Alabama (WFA) as part of the Foundation’s Fall 2025 Grant Cycle, recognizing the College’s commitment to advancing women’s economic opportunity through education, workforce preparation, and leadership development.
Talladega College is one of ten nonprofit organizations across the state selected to receive $50,000 grants, totaling $500,000 in investments aimed at addressing the complex and interconnected barriers women face when entering and remaining in the workforce. Grant recipients were selected based on the strength of their community-based, high-impact programs and their alignment with WFA’s long-term strategy to promote economic mobility for women and families throughout Alabama.
“This investment affirms the important role Talladega College plays in preparing women to succeed academically, professionally, and economically,” said Dr. Willie L. Todd, Jr., President of Talladega College. “We are reimaging Liberal Arts education and are grateful to the Women’s Foundation of Alabama for recognizing our work and for their commitment to expanding opportunities that empower women to thrive in today’s workforce.”
According to the Women’s Foundation of Alabama, programs supported through this grant cycle are projected to collectively assist more than 700 women statewide by increasing access to employment, leadership development, financial stability, and entrepreneurship opportunities. Funded initiatives will support job skills training and credentialing, housing stability, savings and credit-building efforts, leadership development for women professionals, and business development for women entrepreneurs.
“These grantees represent bold, community-driven solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing women today,” said Zhaundra C. Jones, Vice President of Philanthropy and Learning of the Women’s Foundation of Alabama. “We are proud to invest in organizations like Talladega College that are building the infrastructure needed for long-term economic opportunity for Alabama’s women and families.”
The Fall 2025 Grant Cycle reflects WFA’s strategic focus on three interconnected priorities: Women + Work, Women + Leadership, and Women + Wellbeing – Financial Wellbeing. Talladega College’s work aligns with these priorities through its academic programs, student support services, and community engagement initiatives designed to strengthen pathways to career readiness and economic mobility.
Talladega College remains committed to advancing equity, opportunity, and leadership development for women across campus and beyond, and looks forward to the continued impact of this partnership.
