Talladega College has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Presbyterian Home for Children – Talladega to establish a practicum affiliation that will provide hands-on learning experiences for students enrolled in the College’s Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) degree program.
Through this agreement, Presbyterian Home for Children – Talladega will serve as a practicum site where Talladega College social work students can apply classroom learning in a professional, supervised environment while supporting the agency’s mission to serve children and families. The partnership will be renewed annually and reflects a shared commitment to ethical practice, student development, and community impact.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to preparing students who are not only academically strong but professionally and ethically grounded,” said Talladega College President Willie L. Todd, Jr. “By collaborating with Presbyterian Home for Children – Talladega, we are creating meaningful pathways for our social work students to gain real-world experience while serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This is a powerful example of how Talladega College continues to reimagine liberal arts education through experiential learning and community engagement.”
Under the agreement, Talladega College will place qualified social work students who have completed the appropriate academic preparation into supervised practicum roles aligned with the College’s practicum Practice Manual and learning objectives. Students will be evaluated throughout their placement and supported by ongoing communication between faculty liaisons and agency supervisors. The College also requires students to carry malpractice insurance and to adhere to professional standards, including the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers.
