(Talladega, AL)  - Dr. Cynthia (Taylor) Anthony ’84, the first woman to be named president of Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama,, says Talladega College provided a foundation for both her professional and personal success.

“The College engaged in a holistic approach to student development and growth by providing not only a sound academic experience, but also focusing on the moral and ethical responsibility of leadership, engagement, and service in a global society,” Dr. Anthony stated.

“The faculty and staff were committed and dedicated to student success.  This success became an expectation that Talladega students took seriously and embraced as they pursued their chosen paths.  The continued mentorship and support of faculty, staff, and administrators over the years has been invaluable.”

“I met my wonderful husband of 36 years, Dennis, at Talladega College. Our two amazing children, Brandon and Jasmyn, are our pride and joy.  Talladega College served as the medium for bringing us together and giving us a place to learn and grow as responsible adults.  The friendships we made at Talladega will be life-long.”

Dr. Anthony added that the sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will “forever be a part of who I am.”
