Talladega College is excited to announce it launched its Writing Center on Sept. 25. Located in the main lobby of the Savery Library, the Writing Center offers thirty-minute work sessions with a team of skilled tutors ready to serve students needing assistance in style guideline formatting, effective research strategies, citing, editing and more. The center was created to provide writing assistance resources for students across all majors and disciplines in an effort to create more well-rounded writers.

Associate vice president for student success & director of emerging scholars, Arlen Sims emphasized its role in fostering a culture of academic excellence. “The Writing Center was created to continue to provide innovative solutions while providing additional support for all Talladega College students. Writing is a crucial component of student success, and having a resource that emphasizes the importance of writing and critical thinking skills is invaluable. The Student Success team is committed to continually adding resources that help every student achieve their academic goals.”

The establishment of the Writing Center reflects Talladega College’s commitment to providing comprehensive academic support and resources for its students. By enhancing writing proficiency, the center is expected to contribute to improved academic performance, stronger job applications, and greater overall student success.

“It is our goal that the writing center will provide personalized writing support in all academic areas, build critical thinking skills, and ultimately help students increase their grades,” Sims said.

Students are asked to bring a draft of their document and course syllabus to their appointment. All appointments can be scheduled by emailing Arlen Sims at asims@talladega.edu or Rachelle Williams at rwilliams@talladega.edu.
