Talladega College Offers Expedited Transfer, Scholarships and Other Benefits to Birmingham-Southern College Students

Talladega College is offering the students of Birmingham-Southern College (BSC), which is closing May 31, an expedited pathway to transfer to Talladega.
“We believe our institution is a good alternative for students who currently attend BSC,” said Talladega College President Gregory J. Vincent. “Talladega and Birmingham-Southern are both small liberal arts colleges, with faith-based roots and there is good alignment with regard to majors between the two schools. We also have a student-first focus and strong leadership and career development initiatives that benefit all students.”
The expedited transfer process includes the following benefits:
- Eligible transfer effective immediately for Summer 2024
- No application fee
- Priority review with expedited admission decision
- Priority transfer credit evaluation
- Offering academic scholarships up to the FULL cost of tuition and fees ($15,650) PLUS a one-time, first year room and board allotment of $3500 (standard room only)
- No confirmation/enrollment fee ($150)
- No housing deposit ($200)
- Priority financial aid packaging
Vice President of Enrollment Management Derrick Robertson said, “We understand how stressful the current situation is for the BSC students. We want to create a seamless transition for those students to Talladega College.”
Robertson also explained that Talladega can offer a robust college experience for students given the large number of Intercollegiate Academic initiatives and Intercollegiate Athletic sports. “We really cater to the whole student, offering many opportunities for leadership and personal development,” he said.
“And while Talladega embraces its HBCU heritage, since its inception more than 156 years ago, it has also embraced students from all backgrounds regardless of race, religion, creed, nationality, economic status or disability status,” said Robertson.

On April 16 and April 30, Talladega College is hosting On-the-Spot Transfer events on the second floor of the Student Activity Center, 627 W. Battle Street, Talladega, AL.
