Talladega's provost and executive vice president, Dr. A. Clifton Myles, has been named the Alabama workforce coordinator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Workforce Coordinator Network. This initiative spans over seven states with coordinators in each state.
In his new role, Dr. Myles will drive regional workforce alignment. He will serve as the primary facilitator and leader for Alabama's Workforce Coordinator Network by fostering collaboration among institutions. Dr. Myles will also work with other SACSCOC member institutions to help cultivate innovative, workforce-responsive education, and he will also provide strategic recommendations to enhance network engagement and overall operational effectiveness.
"I am honored to serve as Alabama's SACSCOC state convener for this two-year initiative. It is a distinct privilege for Talladega College, and for our HBCU community, to help lead a statewide effort that unites K-12, community colleges, four-year institutions, and HBCUs around a shared workforce agenda,” said Dr. Myles. “But this work is about more than coordination. It is about opportunity. Every credential we align to a real job is a door opened for an Alabama student. Bar none, our state has the people and the partnerships to build a workforce ecosystem the region can model, and I am committed to making sure Talladega College helps open those doors wider, faster, and for more of our neighbors across every corner of Alabama."

Supported by a grant from the Lumina Foundation, the two-year initiative was established by SACSCOC to strengthen how colleges and universities prepare students for the rapidly evolving workforce. SACSCOC is bringing member institutions together to align academic programs with industry needs, while collaborating with state workforce development agencies and national organizations. SACSCOC is an accrediting body for more than 780 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and around the world.
The project is structured across four key phases: a comprehensive state workforce analysis, institutional gap discovery, best practice co-development, and a culminating national workforce summit in 2027.
