DeMario Thornton, a 2010 graduate of Talladega College, has ranked in the top 7 percent of his class at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and serves as a judicial intern for Judge Eboni Johnson-Rose of the 19th Judicial District Court.
Thornton is eternally grateful to Talladega College because the institution cultivated him into the person he is today.
“TC gave me the stage to shine bright,” he said. “My advice to current students is to understand that Talladega may not be the biggest, but it is our tenacity and ability to turn coal into diamonds that make us outshine others as the Alpha Lyrae Vega of them All.”
He also credits his triumphs to Mr. Anthony Jones, acting vice president of Student Affairs. “He taught me that presentation, preparation, and authenticity would be the key ingredients to my success,” said Thornton.
In addition to his most recent achievements, Thornton has served as a representative for the Student Bar Association, was awarded the Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP Diversity Scholarship, and was allowed to interview Marcia L. Fudge, the 18th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
