Talladega Students Can Apply for UNCF’s Michael L. Lomax Endowed Scholarship Program

Incoming first-year Talladega College students now have access to a new United Negro College Fund (UNCF) scholarship. Students can apply for the Dr. Michael L. Lomax Endowed Scholarship named in honor of UNCF’s president and CEO. 

The scholarship, established by Tench and Simone Coxe, aims to support deserving first-year students in their pursuit of higher education. Through the partnership, deserving first-year students will be awarded $10,000. The scholarship is renewable annually based on the availability of funds and students continuing to meet requirements. 

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time, first-year student at a UNCF member institution (which includes Talladega College).
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  • Demonstrate unmet financial needs determined by Talladega College and/or via the completed FAFSA form.
  • Submit an official transcript, one academic recommendation, and a 300-word essay detailing your aspirations and why you believe you are a deserving candidate.
