(Talladega, AL) Talladega College, Alabama’s first private historically black college, is consistently ranked among the best southeastern colleges and top HBCUs in the nation. It was founded in 1867 by two former slaves, William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, and is the home of the renowned Hale Woodruff Amistad Murals.
On May 17, 2021, Talladega was designated a COVID-19 vaccination site by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH). As a part of Talladega's ongoing effort to help end the pandemic, the College will host a Vaccination Blues Concert on Friday, June 25, 2021, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., at Silsby Hall. Attendees must bring proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
President Joseph Biden has pledged to have at least 70% of the American population vaccinated by July 4th, 2021, and Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has stated that she would like at least 3.5 million Alabamians vaccinated. Unfortunately, only 11.9% of African American Alabama residents are vaccinated. Additionally, a little over 10% of the Alabama Latino population are vaccinated.

Reaching our fundraising goal of $50,000 will allow us to offer visa gift card incentives to attract at least 5,000 potential vaccine recipients from this area.
