Job Summary

    Position Summary To manage the operation of the Convenience Store/Central Store by the promotion and sale of items in the store that will include ordering/stocking merchandise, pricing merchandise, and arranging displays. Will be responsible for operating cash register and check-out of customer?s purchases. Provide excellent customer service. Supervise salesclerk in arranging displays, operating checkout station and providing customer service. The manager reports to the Controller. Responsibilities 1. Ability to operate cash registers, handle credit card sales, treat customers in a courteous manner, and become familiar with merchandise and its location within the store. 2. Follow college schedule for special promotions and sales. Oversee merchandise displays and overall appearance and cleanliness of store. Makes sure any special price signs are posted and registers have been updated to reflect daily price changes. 3. Order merchandise from agencies according to inventory replacement system. Makes periodic physical spot checks of inventory to ensure that records are being maintained accurately. 4. Reconcile daily sales reports and cash receipts. Makes sure all monies are deposited daily and reports are sent to the Business Office in a timely manner. 5. Monitors activity within store to observe quality of customer service and provide assistance when needed. 6. Design and develop, setup and takedown customer promotional displays. 7. Mock-up items prior to stocking and place items on sale that has shelf longevity. 8. Responsible for the timely and accurate distribution and dispatching of incoming, outgoing, and departmental mail. This includes sorting incoming mail, interdepartmental mail, notices, and memorandums for accurate and timely distribution. 9. Will operate the postage meter machine for official outgoing mail; which includes weighing, and affixing appropriate postage. 10. Stock supplies for mail room shipping for U.S. Post Office, Fed-X, UPS and other mail agencies. 11. Responsible for assigning mailboxes to students, faculty and staff. 12. Other duties as assigned.


    Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting or Marketing required. At least two years of retail experience is desirable, but less formal education and more on-the-job experience may be substituted. Good organizational skills as well as an ability to motivate and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to work under pressure. Will be required to open convenience/central store during special events. Ability to work with Microsoft software and cash register machine. Must be able to lift small to medium boxes.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
