Job Summary:

The Part-Time Museum Clerk for the Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art need to provide exemplary customer service for our visitors. While effectively demonstrating a balance of excellent customer service, product knowledge, and effective merchandising, the individual represents the Museum for the public and our members, maintaining a well-informed knowledge of exhibitions, local events, and membership benefits. The candidate should be a creative and highly motivated individual with a positive attitude, who will assume responsibility for gift shop work and will serve in other areas of the museum as needed or assigned. Reports to the Director of Museum and Library Services.

  • Provide exemplary customer service to visitors.
  • Willingness to learn about exhibits.
  • Maintains inventory and sales receipts for gift store and admittance to the museum.
  • Receive and deliver telephone messages and generally acts independently providing information and/or referrals.
  • Required to follow job related instructions and perform other job related activities as requested by supervisor.
  • Additional duties as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous Library or Museum work preferred.
  • Previous inventory control and monetary skills preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and facilitate multiple detailed tasks.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must exhibit professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • English grammar, spelling and punctuation skills; office methods, procedures and practices; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing required.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
