Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Vice President of Student Affairs, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions for the college in accordance with established policies. Maintains satisfactory relations with campus wide departments; responsible for the education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures and skills of personnel.

  • Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients.
  • Initiates and implements patient care plan.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
  • Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders.
  • Administers medications skillfully and correctly.
  • Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
  • Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand.
  • Completes expenditure forms and other documents related to processes of nursing functions.
  • Assist with insurance papers payment and processing.
  • Participates in planning changes and improvements.
  • Participates in campus safety programs
  • Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
  • Keeps the VP of Student Affairs informed of patients, needs, and problems.
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training.
  • Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
  • Displays concern and initiative.
  • Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
  • Cooperates and maintains good rapport with students, faculty and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Must be a registered nurse (R.N.) with a valid license. Must have the ability to learn and adapt to working in the education environment.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
