Responsibilities

Serve as Faculty Development Coordinator for matters pertaining to faculty improvement of teaching skills and scholarly activities including further study and research. Responsible for facilitating faculty professional development for the College to meet its core strategic objectives of ensuring student learning and success as well as fostering a highly engaged, diverse and distinguished faculty. Responsible for building strong relationships with full-time and part-time faculty, Department Chairs, and other campus partners in support of making teaching and learning central to educational excellence and institutional viability. Design workshops, seminars, learning communities, online resources and other programs to develop faculty-teaching excellence. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related academic field; Master’s preferred. Strong communication skills, willingness to travel to work related conferences and to make presentations to the faculty and at conferences. A minimum of one to three years professional experience; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with faculty from different disciplines; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; ability to maintain contemporary skills in new technologies and their applications to university-level teaching/learning; event and workshop planning experience preferred.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
