Mission:

The Mission of the Computer Science Department is to strive for excellence in creating, applying and imparting knowledge in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems by providing the highest quality of education, research in collaboration with other programs, and services to the global community. It is aligned with the College Mission and Core values "Talladega College aspires to be a center of academic excellence in liberal arts higher education; thus preparing students not only for graduate studies but also for the global community" and Core value: "EXCELLENCE: To teach high- quality educational programs and perform innovative research, thus being preeminent in all that we do."

The mission of the Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Community is to provide CAE designated institutions with resources to aid in individual success through workshop facilitation, marketing efforts, and communication tools.

The objective of the Computer Science department is to Build a community of experts and improve institutional user competence through cybersecurity program, training, and awareness to support the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE).

Gain the tools to build or advance your career in Computer Information Systems(CIS) and keep up with the technology as it changes. The Bachelor of Arts in CIS major program uses a cutting-edge curriculum aligned with CAE-DOE Knowledge Units (KUs) outcomes.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, there are approximately 500,000 cybersecurity-related job openings in the U.S. alone, while the projections show that workforce opportunity will nearly quadruple by 2022.

As technology evolves and cyber threats increase, the need for individuals with the cutting-edge skills also will increase. Talladega's CIS program, you will acquire these skills, whether you are new to the field ready to boost your career.

FACTS & STATS

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
