Dr. Isaiah Hugley, ’79

A native of Crawford, Alabama, Dr. Hugley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Pre-Law from  Talladega College (1979), and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Public Administration degree from Mississippi State University (1980).  He was appointed City Manager of Columbus, Georgia in 2005, where he currently is responsible for more than 3,000 employees and a budget of $285 million dollars. He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science at Columbus State University, where he teaches Local Government Management.  He has received many awards and honors, including The Georgia City – County Management Association Pillar of Professional Management Award (2015) and The Legacy of Leadership Black History Award (2016). Dr. Hugley serves on a plethora of boards and commissions. 

He is married to Georgia State Representative Carolyn Fleming Hugley. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. Dr. Isaiah Hugley is one of Columbus’ finest public servants.
